Void

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

This site specific installation was installed at Pitzhanger Manor House in May 2011. Strongly influenced by the devastation caused by both the BP Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2010 and more recently the tsunami in Japan this work challenges our notions of stability in relation to our environment.
Beneath the elaborately decorative mouldings and arches the floor collapses, sinking into an unquantifiable pool of black oil.

Void – Collaborative performance piece

Inspired by how the installation altered how people walked and moved in the space I asked  John Fitzpatrick an actor and movement specialist if he would like to create an improvised performance inspired by the installation.

These photographs document this performance and were taken by Alejandro Olaya Torres
